🚀 The Mission
We are building the infrastructure and a suite of products to step-change the retail industry, starting with a grocery operating system for supermarkets and pharmacies across Africa.
Today, most stores still run on notebooks, Excel, and disconnected POS systems. This leads to poor inventory tracking, losses from theft and expiry, and very little visibility into what is actually driving the business.
Retail Stack replaces this with a reliable operating layer that helps store owners track inventory properly, reduce losses, and make better decisions. Our goal is to become the system of record for retail in Africa.
Because the founders are currently managing the core build alongside other commitments, we need a “Right Hand” to execute the vision on the ground.
To be transparent, you won’t be sitting behind a desk; you’ll be in stores talking to potential users, in meetings with stakeholders, and sometimes on the road navigating the city to find them. Your ultimate goal: Turn “I think” into “I know” through data and direct feedback.
If you’ve ever wondered why supermarkets and retail stores in Nigeria feel chaotic or inefficient, this role puts you at the center of fixing it.
🛠 What You’ll Do (The “Dirty Work”)
- Active Customer Discovery: Identify and approach potential customers (retailers, shop owners, distributors, supermarkets, pharmacies). You must be comfortable striking up conversations with strangers to uncover their deepest business pain points.
- Prototype Evangelism: Take early-stage Retail Stack prototypes into the market. Show them to users, observe their natural behavior (friction points vs. “aha” moments), and record every detail.
- Insight Synthesis: You aren’t just a messenger; you are a filter. You will help translate “street talk” into structured Product Requirements and data-driven insights for the founders.
- Rapid Execution & Ops: Whether it’s testing a new marketing flyer in Mushin or pitching a feature to a supermarket manager in Lekki, you make it happen without a manual.
- Reporting: Maintain a clear log of daily activities and customer feedback via Notion/WhatsApp/Slack to keep the founders in the loop.
🎯 Who You Are
- High Agency: You don’t wait for a checklist. If a door is closed, you find a window or start knocking on the one next to it.
- The “Code-Switcher”: You have the “vibe” to navigate any room. You’re as comfortable talking to a corporate executive as you are talking to a supplier in Balogun Market or Computer Village.
- Tech-Curious: You don’t need a deep tech background, but you must “get” tech and be obsessed or curious about how great products are built.
- Bias for Action: You prefer a “done” experiment over a “perfect” plan. You move fast and learn faster.
